RE: NOTICE ON CLOSURE OF LAW FIRM AND EXEMPTION ON COURTS AFFAIRS

Following the implementation of the Phase 1 FMCO nationwide for 14 days from 1 - 14 June 2021 (the FMCO Period), only essential economic and service sectors are allowed to operate. However, the legal sector does not fall within the ambit of essential services as such law firms will not be able to operate physically during the FMCO Period.

The Chief Justice has issued a Practice Direction No. 8/2021 dated 31.5.2021 that exempting the parties of proceedings from complying with the time period requirements under the laws which includes filing, service of cause papers, and enforcement of the Court Order during the FMCO period.  All trials, hearings, and decision dates that fall on the FMCO period will be vacated and the Court shall give further direction to the lawyers after the FMCO period. Our lawyers will keep you informed promptly.

Should there be any urgency of obtaining any Court Order, please speak to our lawyers. We may proceed to file your application in Court and that you are allowed to file an incomplete affidavit with an undertaking to complete the said affidavit within 14 days after the FMCO period.

Meanwhile, we will ensure that there should be no unnecessary delay in your case. Feel free to contact any of our lawyers if you have any inquiries in relation to your matter. We advise you to log in to your Shang & Co. CRM Account to check your case's status, access the Court documents and correspondences, and your billing and payment records.

We hope that you and those around you are and remain safe. We are privileged to have you as a client and even in this unprecedented situation.

Thank you for your trust.

Regards,
