May the 4th Be With You (Part 6): Childcare Centres [Updated on May 3rd, 2020]

The Government has announced the Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) regarding Childcare Centres (TASKA). I hereby provide a list of FAQs for your easy understanding.


Q: Can the Childcare Centres (TASKA) be allowed to operate from 4th May?

Yes, all Childcare Centres are allowed to resume operation starting from 4th May 2020 except in the restricted area listed under the Movement Control Order and the states which do not implementing the Conditional MCO such as Sabah, Sarawak, Kedah, Kelantan, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang and Pulau Pinang. The Taska are allowed to operate for 24 hours but the Customer Presence Hour will only be 8 hours .


Before Operation


Q: What are the steps to be taken by the operators of the Childcare Centres to ensure that it is safe?

a) The operators, teachers, and staffs must be certified that they are free from Covid-19

b) The premise shall be sanitized

c) Training on hygiene and safety measure and implementation of activities should be provided to teachers and staffs

d) Parents/Guardians of the Child, Child and the staffs should fill in a health declaration form

e) Guidelines and the FAQ prepared by the Health Ministry should strictly be complied

f) Enhancing the understanding, awareness and training to the staffs especially on personal hygiene such as use of hand sanitizer and face mask

During Operation


Q: What are the guidelines to be taken by the operators of the Childcare Centres?

a) Every staffs and the children should be checked whether they have any symptom of Covid-19 such as cough, fever, sore throat and breathing difficulties before entering / while in / before returning every day

b) Staff and children with a body temperature of 37.5 celsius above are prohibited from attending Taska

c) Staffs or children who has been in close contact with a person who has been tested positively with Covid-19 or has just returned from abroad is prohibited to attend to Taska within 14 days.

d) Avoid sharing tableware and personal care equipment

e) The premises shall be sanitized

f) Label of social distance (1 meter) should be placed on the Floor especially in the dining area, bedroom and wash room

g) Children should be educated on the importance of personal hygiene by regularly washing hands and maintaining social distance

h) Visits, programs and outdoor activities should be limited

i) Reducing activities across facilities, hostels and blocks

Q: Must the staffs wear a face mask while at Childcare Centres?

Yes. All staffs are required to put on their face mask while at Taska.

Q: What if the staffs or the children showing the symptoms of Covid-19?

Staffs or Children who showing the symptoms are prohibited from being in the Childcare Centres and should be isolated for referral to medical advice.


Q: Can I accept new admission?

Yes, but number of new admission shall be limited and children who newly admitted should be placed in an isolation for 14 days before joining with the group.

Steps to be taken if anyone from Taska are positively tested with Covid-19

a) Person who having the relevant symptoms shall be isolated in an isolation room and should immediately notify the clinic or hospital nearby

b) The Taska shall be closed immediately

c) Contact the health office nearby for advice

d) Sanitize and disinfect the premise according to the prescribed guidelines by Health Ministry Malaysia,
