Shayne Thum focuses his practice on civil litigation and disputes resolution. He is experienced in handling corporate and commercial disputes involving high profile clients, contractual disputes, breach of directors duties, landlord-tenant disputes, debt recovery, and construction-related dispute.
He is active in the courts throughout his practice, which has equipped him to be a legal counsel with extensive knowledge. He also represents clients in Alternative Dispute Resolutions such as mediation, arbitration, and construction adjudication proceedings.
Apart from matters concerning litigation, throughout his years of practice, he has also been involved in advising clients from China and liaising with the China Embassy on legal issues, including immigration issues and work permit requirements. He also provides legal advice tailored to China clients' needs and requirements in business matters and steers clients through the legal process with extensive expertise and knowledge.
Shayne Thum provides service and advice to employers and employees in various industries on employment and human resources related matters, including advising employers on compliance with labor laws and recommended practice applicable to employment relationships. He has represented employees in the Industrial Court and High Court for unfair dismissal and constructive dismissal and judicial review proceedings.
He has also extended his expertise in advising and reviewing the Voluntary Separation Scheme and Mutual Separation Scheme for employers, employment contract and employees’ benefits, employee handbook, and Human Resources policy.
